;P I have an ongoing universe that I've been writing in rp format since about 1998. (it started out pretty terribly) And most of my stories are AU's or offshoots of it.
The jist of the main story is; the retelling of a series of mistakes that the main characters made, that led to the end of the world.. via "demons" from another dimension.
Just think "the mist" except more intricate, and the creatures being sentient and more organized in an army-like fashion.
The offshoot I'm writing is an AU where a sub-antagonist gets the limelight.
Basically a serial killer who keeps his son/grandson (both at the same time) in a basement and feeds him the bodies of his victims. He rapes and tortures his victims in a complex (yet clean) basement. He believes the house upstairs should remain absolutely pristine, with no human "defoulment".
There's a lot more elements to it, a whole lot more. But I'll let those peek through and reveal themselves in my writing.
The story focuses on the kid, and a "observer" character. As well as the serial killer. It's mostly a tri-fecta of awful. *rubs hands together* muahahahha
(edit: to answer the question about what horror I write, it's mostly war and murderers.. and usually the fallout related to them)
